Reading books :)

I don’t know why my first post will revolve around the subject of reading books. Anyways, here it goes.

I remember an incident when I was 10 or 11 years old: I was at the library when I encountered a diary, a diary of the notorious Adolf Hitler.  I opened the book at the portion where Nazi Germany was trying to invade England. The Nazis called the invasion ” Operation Sea Lion”.

In the diary, Hitler wrote that he did not really wanted to wage a war against England. According to him, the Germans and the British, originating from the same race should become natural allies and partners. As such, Hitler was perplexed why the British was antagonistic to his empire.

Hitler had an answer to this: the Jews. He believed that the reason why the British was antagonistic to his empire was because the Jews controls the British government.

As such, Hitler decided to wage war against the British to relieve it from the control of the Jews.

Unfortunately, luck was not on his side. Operation Sea lion failed. Becoming the first major military failure of the Nazis.

So, why am I recounting and sharing this story? Perhaps, Hitler’s diary and his creative exposition captivated my imagination. By reading his diary, I discovered that reading  is not an arduous task, but rather a pleasurable  and enriching experience.

After reading his diary, I started reading classical books like Moby Dick, the Count of Monte Cristo, the War of the Worlds, the Time Machine and a lot more.

However, it is very sad to discover that a sizable portion of the youth find it really hard  to read books. Reading is one, understanding is another.

I would often hear that they have read the book, but when someone asks them, they could not give a sensible answer.

Perhaps, this can be explained back in their younger years. They failed to find a book that will ignite their imagination. A book that will transmit them to the world of magic and wonders.
